Date Calculator
Find the number of days, weeks and approximate months between two dates.
About the Date Calculator
Use the date calculator to find the number of calendar days between two dates, with quick conversions to weeks and approximate months.
How to use this calculator
- Choose the start date.
- Choose the end date.
- Review the number of calendar days.
- Use the week and approximate month figures for planning.
How the calculation works
The calculator subtracts the start date from the end date and converts the elapsed time into days. Weeks are days divided by seven, while the month value uses an average month length.
Example
Entering January 1 and December 31 returns the elapsed calendar-day count for that date range and equivalent week and approximate month values.
Things to keep in mind
- The end date is treated as the second calendar date, not an additional full day.
- Months are approximate because calendar months have different lengths.
- For contracts or deadlines, check whether the relevant rule counts the start or end date.
- Use a calendar or official source when a legal deadline depends on a specific counting rule.
Frequently asked questions
Does the calculator count the start date?
It calculates elapsed days between the two calendar dates, so the difference between the same date and the next date is one day.
Why are months approximate?
Calendar months range from 28 to 31 days, so a single exact day-to-month conversion is not always possible.
Can I use it for legal deadlines?
Use it as a planning aid only. Legal and contractual deadlines can use special counting rules.
