CALCULATOR GUIDE

About the Grade Pay Calculator

Use this calculator for a quick estimate of salary components when working with the older grade-pay style of salary calculation. Enter basic pay, grade pay and your applicable DA and HRA rates.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter your basic pay and grade pay.
  2. Enter the DA percentage you want to apply.
  3. Enter the HRA percentage used for your estimate.
  4. Review basic plus grade pay, DA, HRA and estimated gross salary.

How the calculation works

The estimate adds basic pay and grade pay, calculates DA on that combined amount, and calculates HRA on basic pay. Your employer or government department may use different allowance rules.

Example

If basic pay is ₹18,000 and grade pay is ₹2,800, the starting pay component is ₹20,800 before the DA and HRA assumptions are added.

Things to keep in mind

  • Grade pay is mainly associated with older pay structures.
  • Current central-government pay is generally organized through the 7th CPC pay matrix.
  • DA and HRA rates depend on the applicable rules and period.
  • Use your pay slip or department notification for an official figure.

Frequently asked questions

Is grade pay still used in the 7th Pay Commission?

The 7th CPC replaced the old grade-pay structure with the pay matrix. Grade pay can still appear in older records or legacy calculations.

Can I calculate government salary with this?

You can use it as an estimate for older grade-pay structures, but current government salary should normally be calculated from the applicable pay matrix and allowances.

Is this an official government calculator?

No. POSLATOR is an independent calculator site and the result is an estimate.
