How to use this calculator
- Enter annual salary or income.
- Choose the new or old tax regime.
- Review the standard deduction and estimated taxable income.
- Review estimated tax plus cess.
How the calculation works
The calculator applies a simplified standard deduction, calculates slab tax, applies the relevant Section 87A rebate where applicable, and adds 4% health and education cess. It is not designed for special-rate income or complex surcharge and marginal-relief cases.
Example
Under the AY 2026-27 new regime, taxable income up to ₹12 lakh can qualify for the Section 87A rebate, subject to eligibility. Salaried taxpayers can have a standard deduction of up to ₹75,000 under the new regime.
Things to keep in mind
- The new regime is the default regime for many individual taxpayers, but eligible taxpayers can opt for the old regime.
- Special-rate capital gains and other income are not fully modeled.
- High-income surcharge and marginal relief are simplified out of this calculator.
- Verify the final liability before filing a return.
